1. How does the service work?
It’s actually pretty simple. Yours.co syncs with popular cloud services where you currently store and keep your photos/videos (like Google Photos, Instagram, Dropbox, etc.) and automatically creates an archive every month. Your data is etched into stone-like, incorruptible discs using patented technology trusted by NASA and the White House.
2. Do you keep a copy of my data?
Nope. After we download your data to our servers, it is immediately written to disc. As soon as that process is finished, we delete and scrub your data from our system.
3. When will my files be accessed for archiving?
Yours.co will start accessing and archiving your data the same day you sign up. This date will then become your monthly anniversary date for file access and archiving. Each month going forward, we will take a snapshot of your current data on your monthly anniversary date, requiring us to access it only once a month. If there is no data in your cloud service account, we will check again in 24 hours.
4. How is your process secure from hackers?
Nothing is more important to us than keeping your data safe. We use industry best practices to keep your data safe from the moment you log in. We use technologies like oAuth for account authentication, limit remote access to our servers and even design our packaging to ensure your data stays yours.
5. Is there a limit to the amount of photos and video I can archive per month?
The overall limit for our standard plan is 1TB of data per year. If you plan to upload more than that in a year, please contact us to arrange other options.
6. Why does Yours.co create a new archive every month?
Once we've created your initial archive, Yours.co captures any new files you added or updated on a monthly basis, even if they don't fill an entire disc. We do this to ensure that your archive constantly updates as you add or make changes to your data.
7. How much data will fit on a single disc?
Yours.co discs can hold up to 50GB of data using our patented, permanent storage technology.
8. Can I order a duplicate copy of each disc?
This feature is not currently available.
9. Is the service available outside the U.S.?
Yours.co is currently limited to US residents only. We’ll soon be expanding to Canada, Mexico, and Europe.
10. How long has Yours.co been in business?
Yours.co was started in early 2017. The company holds 11 patents, including the MDISC technology which has been around for decades and is the first archival disc to last up to 1,000 years.
11. What kind of drive will I need to read my archive disc?
In order to access the data on your archive, you’ll need an optical disc drive. We recommend using a Blu-ray data drive as they’re compatible with both the DVD and Blu-ray discs that are used in conjunction with our MDISC technology.
